Rebecca Palmer’s work affirms our human connection with the landscape. She has been especially interested in the poetic and expressive possibilities of the photographic medium. Much of her work speaks to an inner landscape of the imagination.

She is a native Californian and a long-time resident of the San Francisco Bay area. During her undergraduate years at Stanford University, she studied literature, painting and drawing. She earned a MFA in photography from San Jose State University. Workshops taught by Oliver Gagliani were an important part of her early photographic education.

Her photographs have been exhibited in California as well as in national and international exhibitions. Her work is in many private collections and is held in public collections including the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University, Stanford, California; Art Center Santa Monica, Barcelona, Spain; and Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, France. She has taught courses in art and photography. She has also written about photography; her articles were published in ArtweekPhoto Metro and (detail) magazines.
